  • Released - 2000

  • 12-string bass - Hamer B12L - All except “Bring It On Home”

  • Songs including the 12

As Chip Z'Nuff is a fingerstyle player, the typical 12 sound is a bit muddy at times and difficult to distinguish although it is clearly evident in the song "In The Groove", particularly in the song's intro. The song ‘Bring It On Home’ was played on a 4-string bass and is a studio demo for the movie ‘Jerry Maguire’. All other songs on the album were recorded live using a 12-string bass.

1990 Custom Hamer Chaparral “Peace” 12-String Bass

The graphics on this bass were all custom painted by Hamer. The production model 12-string Chaparral bass was not introduced until 1992 but for this bass a Chaparral guitar body was used. The guitar body does not have the scallops on the body that are found on the bass body. The neck has the boomerang inlays at every position. The headstock is a custom shape that was used on only a few 8-string and 12-string basses.

Enuff Z’Nuff - Peach FuzZ

Chip Z’Nuff played a Hamer 12-string bass on ‘Rainy Day’ on the Peach Fuzz album. The version of this album released in 2000 includes the cover above and ten songs. The re-released album from 2008 shows the same artwork from the Tweaked album plus two additional songs, and also includes the Hamer “Peace” 12-string bass in the liner notes and on the CD.

The 1990 Hamer “Peace” 12-string bass is shown in the liner notes of the 2008 Peach Fuzz re-release.

Enuff Z’Nuff - 1989

The liner notes state that Chip plays a Hamer 12-string bass. As he is a fingerstyle player it is often difficult to distinguish which songs were recorded with the 12; “She Wants More” sounds like the 12 to us, plus he typically played the 12 on that song at their concerts.

Chip is pictured with a Waterstone Blue Target TP-12/34 12-string bass on the back cover. The 12 stands out best in the mix on the songs “In The Groove”, “Come Together”, “Jean Genie”, and “Stoned”.
