Since 1993, Guitar & Bass has been published near Paris, France. Prior to the launch of this publication, a magazine with the same name was already being published in the UK. Consequently, after a while the title of this magazine was changed to Guitarist & Bass Magazine due to this conflict.

This issue mentions the 12-string bass in articles about Cheap Trick and Doug Pinnick. In the article about Cheap Trick, bassist Tom Petersson is asked:

Tom, you have always used 8 and 12 string basses. The 5 strings have never tempted you?

In my eyes their use is very limited, the interest lies only in the additional notes. Despite everything, it lacks punch in my opinion, and above all, does not fit with our music. There is nothing new or revolutionary in this as it may have been, for example, the appearance of fretless basses. For all those low notes, I prefer to use a keyboard to get a better control of the attack of the note and to play in a more relaxed way.

The four-page portrait of King’s X bassist Doug Pinnick starts out with a complete train wreck - rather than Pinnick being pictured, King’s X guitarist Ty Tabor is shown. In addition to Pinnick’s views regarding his playing style, a sidebar notes his use of a Hamer 12-string bass on the song ‘Human Behavior’ and that he played 8-string bass on ‘Dogman’.
